The vote counting and results announcement process, step by step

The IEC provided news media with a detailed explanation of what happens on voting and counting days in voting stations, and how the results are captured, verified and audited before publication on the IEC website and other platforms.

Once vote counting for all 19 ballots (the nine regional and one national compensatory ballot for the National Assembly, and the nine provincial legislature ballots) has been completed, the IEC will apply the seat allocation formula to determine the number of seats won by parties and independents.
